In 1944, when as part of General Motors a former department began making injectors for Detroit Diesel Corp. New products and customers were gained, then the department became an independent company. Robert Bosch Corp. acquired the company in 2000. The department helped design and manufacture their common rail systems for the "Big 3". Unfortunately, in March 2006, the group was eliminated in an effort to consolidate worldwide engineering resources. Exergy Engineering was born out of this closure as an independent R & D service provider specializing in diesel fuel systems.
