 The factory intake on the L5P Duramax engine is something that leaves power on the table. It is overall a choke point that is easily fixed. The L5P engine is a powerhouse right out of the box and seeing the factory intake that brings in less air than the truck demands can and will quickly become a problem.

This intake is a full metal assembly with a large heatshield that allows for use of the ram air hood scoop that comes factory on these trucks. HSP Diesel also uses a metal mandrel-bent intake tube that uses smooth bends to create a radius that reduces the turbulence and increases the flow into the engine. This means more air that flows faster through the intake and gives the engine and turbocharger the air it is demanding.
